SIGNED BY COLONEL JOHN WADDY ON FRONT FREE ENDPAPER. At Arnhem, Major John Waddy commanded B Coy 156 Bn Parachute Battalion. Wounded first at Johanna Hoeve Woods and subsequently twice more at a Main Dressing Station, he was taken prisoner and ended the war at Stalag VIIA where was liberated by the Americans in the Spring of 1945. Warrack was ADMS of 1 Airborne at Arnhem. After the battle he spent a fortnight in a cupboard in order to evade capture and eventually made he way back across the Rhine with help of the Dutch resistance.
