Published on September 29 following US publication by Mitchell Kennerley on August 7 of the same year. Lascelles Abercrombie (1881-1938) poet and critic, was educated at Malvern College. He was Lecturer in Poetry at Liverpool from 1919-22, Professor of English Literature at Leeds 1922-29, and at London 1929-35, and was appointed Goldsmith's Reader at Oxford 1935-38. Elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1937 he was a distinguished metaphysical poet whose works include 'Mary and the Bramble' (1910) 'The Sale of St. Thomas' (1931) and numerous criticial studies.
