4to., First Edition, on laid paper, with frontispiece (original tissue guard present) and a plate by the author, a little light offsetting from fold-ins to free endpapers; pictorial green cloth gilt, gilt back, a near fine copy in unclipped, very lightly age-soiled dustwrapper.
Hardy's great Arthurian verse drama is unusual among his works in that the two illustrations - 'Tintagel Castle' as frontispiece (repeated in gilt on front board) and the castle's 'Great Hall' - are the work of the author himself. VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Purdy, pp.227-231.
