HMS GANGES (1865-1976) was the Royal Navy's junior rates training establishment at Shotley in Suffolk. Vice-Admiral Alexander Gordon Cumming Madden was then Second Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Personnel. During WWII he commanded BIRMINGHAM and ANSON. In 1949, as Flag Officer Far East Station, he was involved with AMETHYST and the Yangtze Incident. EXTREMELY SCARCE.
