A PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE REGIMENT TO 2BN ROYAL AUSTRALIAN REGIMENT, AUGUST 1952 WITH INSCRIPTION ON FRONT FREE ENDPAPER. Part 1: 1650 to 1914; Part II: 1914-1918; Part III: 1939-1945; Part IV: 1945-1950. This edition contains as appendices a roll of Victoria Cross holders, comparisons between the First and Second World Wars, and a bibliography. According to White (p.43), earlier editions of this work appeared from the Chiswick Press in 1907 and 1916. The author of the first part died of wounds received at Ypres in 1914, and the second part was compiled by Major A.G.C. Dawnay from a more detailed account written by Colonel C.J.C. Grant in 1921. A subsequent edition, printed by Vacher & Sons, appeared in 1923. Sutcliffe, p.7; White, p.43.
