EDITION LIMITED TO 3000 COPIES. BAYARD was a large and well-established Maquis group founded in late 1940. Based in Joigny, it was headed by Paul Herbin ('Hubert') who remained (amazingly) the group's leading figure throughout the war. Despite several vicissitudes, BAYARD continued to resist the Occupation (sometimes in collaboration with SOE) , and after the Liberation joined the 54th Demi-Brigade of the Yonne. A memorial museum recounting the group's activities was opened in its home town to in the 1990s. EXTREMELY SCARCE.
