SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON TITLE. Cal Younger's vividly written account of captivity and liberation was first published in 1956. An RAAF navigator, he baled out of his stricken Wellington in May 1942 over Gennevilliers and was imprisoned (primarily) at Stalag XIB Fallingbostel. Widely praised (by Shan Hackett among others) for the intensity of its observation, the work is now regarded as a POW classic. This revised and considerably expanded edition includes previously unpublished photographs together with numerous cartoons by the author depicting the vagaries of POW existence. Enser, p.152 (recording the first edition).
