8vo., First Edition, with engraved frontispiece (original tissue guard worn but present) and folding chart, frontispiece recto moderately browned; green pebble-grain cloth, red roan back lettered in gilt, expertly rebacked with old backstrip laid down, patterned endpapers, red sprinkled edges, a very good, bright, clean, crisp copy.
A PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE AUTHOR WITH HIS UNSIGNED HOLOGRAPH INSCRIPTION ON TITLE: 'For Sgt. Wallis, Coldstream Guards, with the author's best wishes for the future, which delivers to follow the call of a good soldier. Oct 25th 1858'.
