FIRST PUBLICATION OF 'LADY SUSAN', 'THE WATSONS', THE CANCELLED CHAPTER OF 'PERSUASION', AND EXTRACTS FROM 'SANDITON'. AN EARLY PRINTING WITHOUT THE PORTRAIT. The 'Memoir' was first issued in 1870 without the aforementioned inclusions, but with a portrait of JA as frontispiece. In the second edition (1971) the portrait was initially omitted, despite a textual reference to it (p.83); subsequent enquiries led to its inclusion in later printings. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
