This Kreigsmarine special force was formed in 1944 to operate midget submarines ('beavers') and explosive motor craft ('lentils'). It proved modestly successful in sinking Allied shipping, but also carried our numerous raids on bridges (notably Nijmegen before MARKET-GARDEN) and other strategic targets.
