8vo., First Edition thus, with engraved title-vignette and numerous fine engravings in the text, last few leaves lightly spotted; attractively bound in contemporary half calf, boards ruled in gilt, back with raised bands, second compartment with black leather label ruled and lettered in gilt, all other compartments tooled in gilt, marbled edges, marbled endpapers, expertly rebacked to style, a most attractive copy in period binding.
Printed at the Chiswick Press, with the nineteenth century trade ticket of Thornton of Oxford on front paste-down. Bright copy of James Rennie's edition in period binding. Rennie's is one of the few editions containing the whole of the Antiquities together with the Calendar, Observations and Poems. Also included is the brief biography of White by J. White (first printed in 1802) headed by an authentic view of The Wakes, which shows the additional room built by White. Martin p.116.
