8vo., First Edition thus, with portrait frontispiece, and 22 illustrations (a number full-page) and 37 maps (the majority full-page) in the text, some faint offsetting from fold-ins to free endpapers; black cloth, gilt back, dark top, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter with small loss ( affecting lettering) at head of backstrip, and another small loss (not affecting lettering) at bottom edge of rear panel.
One of the most important memoirs to emerge from the German side of WWII. Translated from the German 'Erinnerungen eines Soldaten', it gives for the first time 'the authoritative inside story of the origin and development of the military machine which made possible Hitler's blitzkreig'.
