The Longest Day. June 6, 1944
BRIGHT, CLEAN COPY IN UNCLIPPED DUSTWRAPPER
Published: Gollancz, 1960
Stock code: 42752
8vo., First Edition, with 28 plates on 16 and coloured endpaper maps, fore-edges lightly browned as often; red cloth, gilt back, a very good, bright, crisp, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the wrapper lightly browned on (predominantly white) rear panel.
Maps by Richard Edes Harrison. Includes a good bibliography. The dustwrapper is unusual in that the publisher's blurb occupies the whole of the inner surface. Compiled from many participants' accounts, this is still the finest one-volume account of D-Day. It is the basis of Ken Annakin's well-known feature film (1962) starring John Wayne, Kenneth More and a host of other stars. INCREASINGLY ELUSIVE IN ANYTHING LIKE THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.292.
