2 vols., 8vo., First Edition, with engraved portrait frontispiece (mildly age-soiled), some very light and inoffensive age-staining to text, neat pencilled nineteenth-century inscription of half-title of second volume; attractively bound in contemporary half calf, coarse-grain cloth sides ruled in gilt, backs with five raised bands, second and third compartments lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments framed and tooled in gilt, gilt edges, marbled endpapers, a very good, bright, crisp copy in wholly unrestored period binding.
The UK edition is much scarcer than its US counterpart published in the same year, particularly as two volumes as originally issued. Kean died in 1833.
