After Kashmir, which he visited with Walter Lawrence, describing 'much-needed reforms', he travelled through Ladak[h] with St. Clair Bower, reaching Gilgit in time to take part in Durand's expedition against the Hunza-Nagars. As always with Knight, a descriptive, facsinating and wide-ranging memoir. First published in 1893, the work was an immediate success, achieving a third edition in the same year.
